The short version: The Clean Paper does not ask who you are. The website and the Android app have no accounts, advertising, advertising SDKs, behavioural profiles or data sales. The website uses Plausible Analytics for a small set of aggregate traffic statistics. We do not use cookies.

On the website
We use Plausible Analytics to understand broad patterns: how many visits the site receives, which pages are read, where visits came from, approximate country, and broad browser, operating-system and device categories. We also send one custom event called Reader Confirmed after an article has stayed visible and focused for at least 15 seconds and the reader has interacted with the page. It tells us that an article probably reached a human reader; it does not tell us who that reader is.
Plausible does not place cookies or use browser storage. It processes the IP address and User-Agent that accompany a web request to calculate a daily, rotating visitor identifier; according to Plausible, the raw values are not stored and the identifier cannot follow someone across websites, devices or days. Our analytics script and event endpoint use first-party The Clean Paper addresses, but the purpose remains the same: aggregate Plausible statistics, not personal tracking.
The site has no user accounts, comment system, newsletter signup or advertising network. It does not load third-party fonts or embedded social trackers. Following an external link takes you to another service, whose own privacy policy then applies.
In the Android app
The Android app contains no analytics or advertising SDK. It connects to thecleanpaper.com to download the catalogue, articles, guides, images, video and any PDF you request. Like any internet connection, these requests necessarily reveal the IP address and requested URL to the server. The app also sends a limited User-Agent containing the app name and version, plus the language selected in the app. It does not send an advertising ID, device model, contact list, precise location or a personal account identifier.
Your language choice, theme choice and downloaded content cache are stored locally by the app. You can remove them by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it. Android may include local app data in a system backup according to your device and account settings; The Clean Paper does not receive or control that backup.
If you choose to save or share a PDF, open an external link, or send content to another app, Android hands that action to the service or app you selected. Its privacy terms apply from that point.
Technical requests are not profiles
Our hosting infrastructure necessarily processes ordinary request information so it can deliver files, resist abuse and diagnose failures. This can include an IP address, time, requested path and User-Agent. We do not use these records to build reader profiles, combine them with advertising data or try to identify people.
If you contact us
The site does not collect information through forms. If you email contact@thecleanpaper.com, we receive the address, message and anything you choose to include. We use it to reply, handle a correction or continue the conversation. We do not add it to a marketing list or sell it.
What we do not do
- No cookies or cross-site tracking.
- No accounts or hidden personal profiles.
- No advertising identifiers, ad networks or data brokers.
- No sale of reader data.
- No access to contacts, photos, microphone, camera or precise location in the Android app.
Because our analytics are aggregate and we keep no reader account or persistent analytics identifier, we normally cannot locate one person’s visit in order to retrieve or delete it. For a privacy question or concern, write to contact@thecleanpaper.com.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update this page and its date rather than quietly changing the promise.
